CELSIUS, FAHRENHEIT AND KELVIN Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F) and Kelvin (K) are units of recording temperature. The Fahrenheit was proposed by Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit. The scale is often mispelled as "farhenheit", "farenheit", "farhenhiet", or "farenhiet". The Celsius scale is still sometimes called the "centigrade" scale because it is divided into 100 divisions. It was devised by Andres Celsius. The Kelvin scale is named after the Belfast-born, Glasgow University engineer and physicist William Lord Kelvin (1824–1907), FORMULA
Examples: Convert the following as instructed: (i) 45°C into Fahrenheit (ii) 95°F into Celsius (iii) 54°C into Kelvin (iv) 350.15 K into Celsius (v) 300.15 K into Fahrenheit
Solutions: (i) 45°C into Fahrenheit Formula:
Therefore: °F = (45°C x 9/5)+32 = 81 + 32 = 113°F
(ii) 95°F into Celsius Formula:
Therefore: °C = (95°F - 32) x 5/9 = 63 x 5/9 = 35°C
(iii) 54°C into Kelvin Formula:
Therefore: K = 54°C + 273.15 = 327.15K (iii) 350.15 K into Celsius Formula: Therefore: °C = 350.15 - 273.15 = 77°C
(i) 300.15 K into Fahrenheit Convert 300.15k into Celsius °C = (300.15 - 273.15) = 27°C then convert Celsius you get into Fahrenheit as below: °F = (27°C x 9/5)+32 = 48.6 + 32 = 80.6°F
