DAIRY FARMING IN TANZANIA

Dairy farming means keeping animals for milk production.
The dairy breeds include Jersey, Friesian, Ayrshire, Guernsey and Holstein.

In Tanzania milk is mainly from cattle, the milk produced is consumed locally. Milking  in Tanzania is done by hand.

Dairying farms are most found in Iringa, Tanga, Mbeya, Rukwa Kilimanjaro, Mara, Kagera, Dar-es-salaam and Arusha regions.

The following table shows dairies found in Tanzania:



The factory where milk is processed is called Creamery.

In creamery milk is processed and packed.
Milk is mixed in a machine called Homogeniser.
Bacteria in milk is killed by the process called Pasteurisation, it is pasteurized by heating milk to 77° C.
The milk products are: Butter, Cheese, Ghee, Yoghurt, powdered milk, tinned milk and Cream.

FACTORS AFFECT DAIRY FARMING IN TANZANIA
1) lack of capital
2) Animal diseases
3) Poor infrastructure
4) Poor marketing system.
5) Lack of adequate veterinary services

 
DAIRY FARMING IN HOLLAND AND DENMARK
Holland is a country  in the continent of Europe,  it is also known as Netherlands, its people are called Dutch and its capital city is Amsterdam.

Dairy farming in Holland is done with advanced technology.

Milking is done by automatic milking machines.


Holland is the largest exporter of dairy products.
The  country in Europe which is famous for keeping dairy cattle is Denmark.
