CALCULATING TEMPERATURE AND ALTITUDES The following formulas will be used in this article, commit these formulas to your memory. One: If we need to find the temperature we'll use the below formula: Two: If we need to find the Altitude (height above the sea level), we'll use the below formula: Qn 1: The temperature at the sea level is 30°C, what will be the temperature at City M 1300 metres? Solution:
(1300 – 0)/100 x 0.6° = 13 x 0.6°C = 7.8°C The temperature of the higher altitude must be subtracted. Take the given temperature which is 30°C then subtract 7.8°C from 30°C. The answer is 22.2°C
Qn 2: The temperature in Town P 260m above the sea level is 28°C, what will be the temperature 2350 metres above the sea level? Solution: (2350 – 260)/100 x 0.6° = 20.9 x 0.6°C = 12.54°C The temperature of the higher altitude must be subtracted. Take the given temperature which is 28°C then subtract 12.54°C from 28°C. The answer is 15.46°C
Qn 3: If on The mountain Q 3200metres high, the temperature is 10.5°C. what will be the temperature at the sea level? Solution At the sea level means that altitude is 0 metre: using our formula: = (3200 – 0)/100 x 0.6° = 19.2°C with lower altitude, we have to add the temperature we got with what we were given in the question: what we got is 19.2°C, and what we were given in the question is 10.5°C therefore: 10.5°C + 19.2°C = 29.7°C The temperature at the sea level is 29.7°C ****************** How to find the height above the sea level Click here | |
