HOW TO FIND THE ALTITUDE

Qn 1:

The temperature at Town A 1000m above the sea level is 20°C, at what altitude will the temperature be 25.4°C?

Solution:

 

 

=(25.4°C - 20°C)/0.6  x 100m

=9 x 100m

= 900m

Finding the altitude of the higher temperature, we have to subtract the height we got from what we were given.

The height we got is 900m, The height given in the question is 1000m

Therefore: 1000m – 900m = 100m

Therefore at 25.4°C, the altitude will be 100m

 

 

Qn 2:

The temperature at Town A 500m above the sea level is 12.5°C, at what altitude will the temperature be 7.52°C?

Solution:

 

 

=(12.5°C - 7.52°C)/0.6  x 100m

= 4.98/0.6  x 100m

= 8.3 x 100m

= 830 m

Finding the altitude of the lower temperature, we have to add the height we got from what we were given.

The height we got is 830m, The height given in the question is 500m

Therefore: 500m – 830m = 1330m

Therefore at 7.52°C, the altitude will be 1330m
