LEARN FORMULAS FOR DIFFERENT POLYGONS: PART 1
RECTANGLE
Area = Length x Width (A = LW) Perimeter = (Length + Width) x 2 Width = Area ÷ Length Length = Area ÷ Width Width = P/2 - Length Length = P/2 – Width
SQUARE
Area by using its side = side x side Area by using its diagonal = ½ x d2 Perimeter = side x 4 Side = Perimeter ÷ 4 Side = Square root of the area Width = P/2 - Length Length = P/2 – Width
TRIANGLE
Area = 1/2bh Perimeter = sum of all sides surrounding the triangle Height = (Area x 2) ÷ base Base = (Area x 2) ÷ Height Pythagoras theorem: a2 + b2 = c2 (a = height, b=base and c=hypotenuse)
PARALLELOGRAM
Area = Base x height Base = Area ÷ Height Height = Area ÷ Base
RHOMBUS
Area = ½ x d1 x d2 (d1 and d2 are diagonals of rhombus)
TRAPEZIUM (TRAPEZOID)
Area = 1/2h(a+b) or (a+b) ÷2 x h Length a = [(area x 2) ÷ h] – b Length b = [(area x 2) ÷ h] – a Height = (area x 2) ÷ (a+b)
KITE
Area = ½ x d1 x d2 (d1 and d2 are diagonals of a Kite)
